Carbondale is nearing the end of the development of a bike plan to modernize and improve its bicycle network. Ride Illinois is serving as the bike planning sub-consultant on the project, which is led by the i5Group. Our main task has been drafting specific recommendations for all potential segments of a modernized and expanded bikeway network.  These recommendations have been reviewed by City, IDOT, and Southern Illinois University staff.  The next step is to present the network and our other program/policy suggestions to the public.  Area residents are invited to stop by an open house between 5-8pm at Carbondale’s Civic Center on Wednesday, Feb. 17.  Learn more about the project at the Carbondale Bike Plan website.
