HB1784 unanimously passed both houses on Monday, May 29th and is now headed to Governor Rauner’s office! Thank you to all of our members and supporters that spoke up and asked their state legislators to pass the bicycle traffic safety bill. We need your help for this final push to ask Governor Rauner to sign the bill into law.

HB1784 will strengthen cyclists’ rights on the road by:

• Allowing motorists to pass bicyclists in a no-passing zone under certain conditions to improve cyclist safety
• Legalize bicycling on shoulders, but not require it
• Allow a rear red light instead of or in addition to a rear red reflector
