Our 2022 Let’s Ride, Illinois event took place from September 9th through 18th with casual, family-friendly rides around the state! This annual event is a celebration of the freedom and benefits that riding a bike offers.
The community bike rides affiliated with Let’s Ride, Illinois were free of charge and open to all. This statewide event encouraged adults and children from as far north as Rockford and as far south as Lebanon to enjoy a casual bike ride with their neighbors, local bike clubs, and bike shops. It’s a true joy to experience one’s community by bike!
Rides were hosted by bike shops, bike clubs, trail organizations, Regional Action Team volunteers, community bicycle advisory commissions and other community organizations. In total, there were 19 rides organized in 2022 associated with Let’s Ride, Illinois. Community rides were planned in:
Many routes followed local trails and residential streets. Some of the rides included stops for food and beverages, touring historical sites, and snacks during or after the rides. Group size ranged from a handful to 60. Participants of all ages enjoyed the opportunity to experience their community by bike. We contend that there’s no better way to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of a community than by pedal power.

Let’s Ride, Illinois will return in 2023. We will incorporate what we learned this year to make our third annual Let’s Ride, Illinois better and encourage even more communities to participate. Until then, we encourage you to ride often for fun and transportation. The benefits of biking for you and your community are seemingly endless!
