Ride Illinois, a 501c3 nonprofit bicycle advocacy organization founded in 1992, seeks a talented, organized, customer-focused self-starter to fill the role of Development & Membership Coordinator. This exciting role involves planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program. In addition, this role includes the development of new programs and enhancement of existing programs that are directly related to Ride Illinois’ advocacy, education, and awareness efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s revenue goals and needs
  • Identify and cultivate individual members, Corporate Members, foundation donors, legacy donors, and major gifts
  • Plan and execute special events that engage donors, raise funds, and increase awareness
  • Develop effective communications and marketing materials tied to fundraising efforts
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors on matters related to fundraising
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies, as needed
  • Accurately record memberships, donations, etc in CRM application
  • Ensure members and donors are recognized and engaged with the organization’s work
  • Enhance existing initiatives, campaigns, and programs to increase effectiveness and impact
  • Develop new initiatives, campaigns, and programs to further the organization’s mission

Qualifications

  • Resident of Illinois or willing to relocate to Illinois within 60 days of start date
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, membership programs, and special events
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members, and volunteers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive and solutions-oriented approach
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management applications, fundraising software, and donor databases
  • Experience with social media platforms, tools, and campaigns
  • A deep commitment to the organization’s mission, including a strong sense of personal integrity and ethical conduct

Additional Information and Compensation

  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Work Environment: remote work with periodic travel for in-person meetings and events. Occasional work on evenings and weekends.
  • Reporting Structure: Reports to the Executive Director
  • Salary: commensurate with experience, between $58,000 to $63,000 annually
  • Benefits: paid vacation and sick time, health insurance, and a retirement plan
