As part of our ongoing advocacy work, Ride Illinois continues to speak up for people who ride bicycles when IDOT designs state road projects.
We will soon be sending IDOT District 9 (southern Illinois) design suggestions for 12 priority projects over the next 5 years. Specific requests include paved shoulders, less restrictive rumble strips, off-road sidepaths, road striping, and green light triggering. See the list below for more details. Please feel free to send us your feedback at email@example.com. We welcome your feedback!
The 12 projects in IDOT District 9:

Ride Illinois is committed to helping communities around the state use road project opportunities like these to improve their bicycling conditions, and have already reviewed plans for 7 of the 9 IDOT districts. We’re working closely with state and local agencies to “get it right” at the early stages, and speaking up for bicyclists about locations that need to be fixed.
